The website was started by Shannon Kyles while on an educational leave from Mohawk College in 2002. Its purpose is to educate both students and the general public. The web site was started with the help of Hamilton-Halton Construction Association and a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Since 2002, the site has expanded by 25%. Currently it is being funded by Shannon Kyles.
